...You know, I don't think I'd ever met a crazy fangirl before. Sure, I know they're out there and I've seen them online, but never face-to-face. Until...

One of the customers who came by today was a Twilight fangirl. T_T Oh boy.

We have this display of some new book series that I never paid much of a glance, but the girl and her mom started gushing over them, trying to figure out which one was the first volume. She said that since Twilight is finished, she needed something new to read--all well and good, but then the killer line came pretty soon when they were talking about potential new Twilight books or some such.

Girl: "I don't want to read a book from Edward's point-of-view about how he's in love with Bella. He's in love with me!"

AAAH, THEY ACTUALLY EXIST! D:

I don't think I can quite adequately express what a gorgeous day it is outside. At first I didn't feel like doing anything (always feel lazy after working midnights), but I just couldn't stay cooped up inside after stepping out. Some time ago, I realized that I hadn't gotten any of my pictures from 2008 developed, so I loaded up a bunch of photos onto a USB drive and walked up to Shoppers. I even stayed nice and cool on my way back, because I bought a frozen strawberry bar treat before I left. My mom and I are about to go for a walk soon, too. ^_^

I finished watching my Simoun set...as expected, volume 4--or more specifically, the episode Sybilla and the following episodes--made me bawl my eyes out. T_T Seeing as I did find myself a new favourite series, I've kind of lost the desire to watch new ones for the time being. Maybe I'll try to complete some fanart or fanfics. XD;

Actually, I've got quite the list of things I want to draw or write (some of them quite cracktastic), and it's still continuing to grow...especially as I continue that conversation with [info]izo_chan and [info]ceylmallyn at [info]theslayers. >D

Happy birthday [info]rikoren! Get lots of puppy kisses. XD

Watching Simoun again is both fun and interesting. I can why there are so many different ways that fans will spell characters' names (especially in Slayers fandom!) depending on whether they're used to fansubs or a different region's official spellings. It's not something that bothers me even though I tend to go with the official English version, however...I can't quite wrap my tongue around "Roatreamon". I think I'll stick with "Rodoreamon". ^^;

Besides that, I've been inspired for ever-increasing fanart ideas. I really need to finish one thing before I move onto another, but I was just starting to scribble some more Phibrizzo when I went off and doodled Mamiina to the side. I decided I might like to continue that sketch, so I saved it separately, but now I've got yet another unfinished artwork. Ah, well.

How about some snuggling kitties?

These guys sure do like to cuddle up. )

WHOA. Seriously, just, whoa. I gotta hand it to Amazon...that was incredibly fast, especially considering I selected free shipping (supposedly the slowest). O.o Not that I'm complaining! Here I was hoping I'd have it by the end of the week, at the very least. Ha. XD

Woohoo! I just checked my email, and there's a Simoun boxset on its way to me. ^___^ Not only that, but the price has been decreased--and Amazon offers this "pre-order price guarantee", so that even though I placed my order a month ago, I get the lower price. So there's plenty of good news.

Let's see, I might as well update how my new-series-search is going, since I haven't really said anything about that for a while.

Hmm...I have no idea where I got it from, but there's a certain file that's been sitting on my computer for who-knows-how-long. Naturally, it's a recipe, and also naturally, I decided to make it today. They were called "Kitchen Sink" Chocolate Chunk Cookies--for good reason--and though they turned out nicely sickly sweet and tasty, there's still something to be said for moderation. There's no point in putting in peanut butter chips if I can't taste them at all past the chocolate, toffee, and marshmallows! Oh well, tasty treats are still tasty treats...and I still have quite a lot of those peanut butter chips, which would go just fine in a plain chocolate cookie. :)

However...I devoured the entire first batch myself. RESTRAINT WHAT IS THAT. Must've gone nice with the carrot cake I had for breakfast, too.

Uh, in healthier news, I made pizza for supper! My mom had out a page from one of her books, which just had a bunch of magazine clippings, and I spotted an herb and goat cheese pizza. It sounded really tasty, and it turned out that way! We switched the herbs around a little (what the heck is chervil anyway? I've never heard of it.), so it was parsely, chives, oregano, and garlic mixed with goat cheese and a little cream so as to be spreadable. I used half of the pizza dough since we prefer thin crust, and then it was just parmesan cheese sprinkled all over the top. I know what my leftover lunch will be tomorrow~

It's almost the middle of the month, meaning I ought to be getting a Simoun boxset shipped very soon. I'm looking forward to getting it, though it does present a problem--namely, how am I going to watch it without my parents going WTF? *ponders*

Rewatching Scrapped Princess, woohoo. That fandom needs some more love...Maybe I'll draw fanart one day. I just know that it's severely lacking in icons!

Chocolate craving: satisfied. Oh so satisfied. ^__^

I ignored the air conditioningfollowed my heart and made some scrumptious, fudgy brownies. Yum. Then I decided to go for all-out sugar overdose and made caramel creme frosting from my new book to go with it. They were incredibly delicious and sweet and two of them made me sick. ^^;

The appointment this morning was over in a flash. He just asked if there'd been any problems, took a peek, removed the stitches, and that was that. Apparently I need to brush better at the back (didn't know if I was even supposed to be brushing there yet, but there you go).

Self-dissolving stitches are driving me crazy, because they're loosening but not quite out and they're sort of irritating. XP Oh well; I've got a follow-up appointment tomorrow morning, so it's possible they might take them out then. (Although I don't know if I can open my mouth wide enough for that at the moment...) At least I was able to eat some pasta today! It just takes a while, so it was cold by the time I was finishing. ^^;

Quite a bit painful still, but it's tolerable, not to mention preferable to how I felt a couple days ago. I had to switch to a weaker pain reliever because the Tylenol 3 they prescribed me was making me sick. Kinda hard to take pills with food when you can't keep any food down. (Even Gravol couldn't save me there.)

I was able to eat a bit of real food today, which is always good. Of course, it's only when you can't have something that you crave it much more, so I really want some junk food right now. ^^; Oh well, cookies get pretty nice and mushy if I soak them in my tea. Once I'm all better, I think I'll make some brownies or something. After being ill like that, I could probably use them anyway. Er, I think my ribs are showing...

So then, everything's going nicely. Tigger and Boots were being goofs and playing this morning, running up and down the hall. XD

Expect me to be absent for at least a couple days. I'm having my surgery to get out my wisdom teeth first thing tomorrow morning. I'm not too worried about the surgery itself; I get to be asleep for it after all. It's the IV (for the anaesthesia) I'm not looking forward to. Bleh, needles...

Finally, I can present images of all the kitties! Tigger is pretty photogenic when he stays still, and I managed to catch a quick shot of Boots last night. Also, lest you think I've only been paying attention to the new boys, I've got videos of Morgan playing (with good lighting for once!).

Orange and black; Halloween colours. )

I think they'll all be able to get along with time. Both Tigger and Morgan slept in my room last night (Tigger snuggled up on the bed against me, Morgan on my pajamas at the foot of my closet). I'm sure Boots ventured upstairs, too, because I heard the sudden sound of claws scratching desperately at the floor, as somebody panicked and couldn't get traction. ^^;

No pictures of the new kitties yet, sorry. They've taken to hiding behind the furnace for the time being. ^^;

I can elaborate a bit on them, though. Their original owner had to give them up because her husband developed some severe allergies. They're both gorgeous orange tabbies, and also a pair of pretty hefty males--each easily twice Morgan's mass! Somewhat unfortunately, they also happen to have the most generic cat names ever: Tigger and Boots. Oh, well...

Anyways, Tigger is the more outgoing one. He was pretty much all over us right away (though he hasn't come out for me this morning). Boots is much more shy and would rather sit and stare you down from afar. However, he finally made his way over to me yesterday and eventually got up the couch. Once he warmed up, he proved to be just as affectionate as the other.

That said, I have a video of Tigger. Boots didn't want to stick around while I had the camera.

Something my mom and I have been discussing lately has been the subject of getting more cats. We always wanted to have more, though Sassy was not friendly towards other animals, so we held off. However, I think now would be the time. The way I see it, we might as well add to the family before Morgan gets too used to being the only cat.

So...one guess as to what we did this evening. ~.^

My mom wasn't sure she wanted to pay the humane society's fee again ($200 for an adult cat and $250 for a kitten), so I went with my sister's idea and took a look at local classified ads. We tried one kitten but it apparently went within an hour of the ad going around! I figured the adult cats would be harder to adopt out (as is always the case), so we found one ad we liked, contacted the owner, found there had been nobody with enough interest yet, and off we went.

We didn't tell my dad the whole story, though. Sure, he knew we were going to get a cat, buuut...after a conversation with my mom, all I could hear was him, a little stunned, repeating "What do you mean, 'them'?"

Yes, we got two cats. They came as a pair from the same home, so even though it wasn't outright stated, it's pretty much implied that they ought to go together. It would've been sad to separate them anyways! So, for this evening, we have a pair of kitties shut just in the rec room to let them adjust a bit. We'll let them into the rest of the house--and to Morgan (hope that goes well) probably tomorrow.

Anyways, I promise to take some pictures tomorrow or so. They're absolutely lovely cats. ^__^

I've gotten back from AN! (Hope everybody else is having a good trip.) It was a very fun time once again! However, we've agreed on something: The convention itself wasn't as much fun as last year for some reason, but we all enjoyed getting together. So we might just have a better time all meeting at somebody's house, which I think would be really fun.

The hotel was still pretty nice, except for just a couple things. For one, they changed the TVs so that you can't hook stuff up to them anymore, which put a damper on our plans to hook up Stu's laptop and watch DVDs. That was a bit irritating, but we lived. Besides that, the water pressure in our room was terrible! I lived with it since it was only for a couple days, but it was still a little awkward with little more than a light stream. Oh, well.

Anyways, enough of me whining about the slightly annoying parts. ^^; It was really great just being able to see everybody again, and we had fun hanging around and watching things on Stu's laptop anyways. (Ha, DBZ Abridged!)

Also...pictures! I didn't take as many as last year since it could sometimes be difficult to fight through the crowd (there were a couple cosplayers I wasn't able to reach in time T_T) but instead of being silly like last year and snapping blurry pictures of people walking by, I actually asked first if I could get a picture. I'm quite happy with the ones I did get!

Cosplayers, character battles, and Isa with a sword! )

That's pretty much all--oh, though I feel it's worth noting that after several years, I finally had a vacation where I didn't get sick! *cheers*

As for loot, I only bought two things: Princess Tutu boxset, and Haruhi Suzumiya boxset. The second Slayers group told as they found a bunch of Slayers plushies (and supposedly bought them all), and a dig through the bins they pointed out yielded a Naga and a Rezo...but we agreed they were too expensive for not being all that impressive ($30 for Naga and $35 for Rezo--and Rezo's staff was completely different!) so we ended up passing on those.

Anyways, I hope to see you all again at some time and place next year!

Apparently anything that is easily moved will be considered a toy by Morgan. She pokes at my pens, candy, and and pretty much anything loose. Then last night she stole a cough drop off of my desk and started playing fetch with herself. XD How I wish I'd had a camera for that, though she eventualy knocked it under the fridge.

Behold! Mom's birthday cake! )

My sister came by before work and decorated it quite beautifully (what happens when she's worked as a professional cake decorator). Our mom's very pleased and keeps talking about it, though we haven't dug into it yet since it's just the two of us here. We decided to have it tomorrow.

There was way more frosting than I expected, so I filled a large container with the excess and put it in the freezer. I've tasted it, and I think that, if chilled, it would make really tasty chocolate truffles.

Anyways, I also made supper for us, with inspiration from...fast food? I do particularly like the ginger salmon from the Japanese restaurant, so I wanted to try doing something like that--and what better time than when dad's at work? (Since he cares for neither fish nor ginger.) In the end, I think the sauce tasted exactly like same, which is pretty neat. However, it's also pretty strong, though it went quite nice with the rice just slightly flavoured with sesame oil. Best of all though, I did it without a recipe. ^__^ Plus it was fast and easy to boot!

To top everything off, I got a couple very good pictures of Morgan sitting on my dresser. Oh boy, is she going wild right now...O.o

Did someone say 'bird'? )
