Somewhat random questions, because I feel like asking: What was/were your first fandom(s)? Do they ever continue to pull you back in once in a while, even if now you know it's cheesy and not as great as you might have once thought?

I'm somewhat overwhelmed right now...with nostalgia! It took a bit of poking around, but somehow I did manage to come across some fic authors I recognized from the old fandom. Not such a big internet after all! Dangit, I even know the old fics were kinda terrible, but I want to read them...possibly write...gah.

The BAH: I just realized that my schedule for next semester is screwed up. Tuesday's chem lecture is schedule during my biology lab! I could swear it wasn't like that before. :/ In any case, I'll have to do some switching around. It'd be easy if I could switch the lecture, because registration is still open for second-semester courses. However, that's the only lecture section, so there is no other option. That means I'll have to switch my biology lab for second semester, but I won't be able to do that online. Guess I'll have to talk to the professor or something...

The YAY: I got 95% on the second organic chem assignment!

Test was..."neeeyaarrghargh" kinda sums it up. XD; I guess I'll find out when I get my mark, but it was hard. This question (explain how to get from the reactant to the product) had me stumped for a little while, so eventually I just left it and did the rest of the test, then came back and finished. Even if most of the reactions I studied didn't show up, at least I was right to be studying reactions in the first place.

Since I spent yesterday studying and today at work, tomorrow will have to be a homework day. I have to write up my organic chem lab report (two more to go!) and prep my (last!) physics lab. Physics tutorial questions will have to wait until...some other time.

Three hours to go until the second organic chem midterm. I've been looking at all the oxymercuration-reduction, borohydration-oxidation, dichromate oxidation, epoxides, nitration, ozonolysis, radicals, isomers, aromatic compounds, and--*fizzle*. My brain is fried already.

Just a couple more weeks, and the semester will be over! *.* Then I can get properly cracking on a couple fandom-related trades as well as Christmas shopping. Maybe I'll even find time to bake something over the holidays (it's been way too long).

Well, I've finished the Story of Saiunkoku (first season) and it continued to be very engrossing. ^^ What I really liked about the show was that it kept moving, never staying in one place long enough to feel boring. The characters were all fun, too. I'll get to the second season at some point, but I didn't feel like starting it just yet, so I spent a lot of time staring at my long, long list and wondering where I should go next.

One thing that never fails me: When in doubt, go for nostalgia. So I'm now watching Escaflowne, in its unedited glory. *.* Besides the fact that Fox had cancelled it after ten or so episodes, they were pretty hardcore with the censoring and skipped whole episodes at times. This means I've been pretty giddy watching the complete story.

Index still wasn't appealing to me though, so after the absurdity that passed for a dramatic moment in episode 12, I decided to drop that series. Again, some deliberation was required about what it should be replaced with, and I decided to go with Earl and Fairy. I've only watched the first episode, so I don't have much of an opinion just yet, but it looks fun...and pretty. XD

In our organic chemistry tutorial this morning, there was a problem on predicting the reaction of an alkyne with some mercury acetate and sulfuric acid, and Mark and I were comparing answers since we each had something different.

Me: "Well, I think the mercury will form a little triangle ring here at the triple bond and like before, the oxygen can just bend over and take it."
Mark: *just laughs*

...Well, how else would you describe the molecule distorting itself so oxygen can get some? (Electrons, that is!) XD;

Also, I almost left the house without my glasses this morning. Stepped outside and thought, gee, it's kinda hard to see right now without the sun coming up as early. Aha...maybe it was indeed too early.

My biology prof had some good(ish) news, though: He said he's going to put up a study guide today for next week's midterm. Hooray! That's exactly what I was hoping for. Aaaand glad to know I wasn't the only one who wasn't sure whether he was joking about memorizing the structure of NADH. I think glucose is enough for now!

THIS is the best Slayers cosplay ever Y/N?

A couple guys from my high school class are in Organic Chemistry with me, to my surprise. It's funny seeing the changes with people I haven't met for a few years...One of them I almost didn't recognize with the beard(!) and the other's engaged.

Also: Yes, physics tutorials start this week--but it would've been nice for us Monday tutorial students if they'd mentioned it starts this week Thursday. Twenty minutes of awkward, silent waiting could have been spared!

"It started good" is going to be my catchphrase soon.
Ah...[info]earthstar_chan, I see what you mean now about the ending of Black Cat. I liked the first few episodes well enough, but once Train joins Sven and becomes a sweeper, it goes downhill pretty quickly. The pacing gets pretty bad and it pretty much descends into a lame shounen series, complete with hordes of one-note characters spouting off terrible lines and puns. Some of it was okay, but yeesh...Biggest disappointment of everything I've watched so far! XP

Even Solty Rei, with all its cliches and pathetic excuse for a climactic showdown, was so much more endearing throughout. (Not a magnificent series, but one worth watching.)

...Okay, enough ranting about that. XD; Funi finally put up more episodes of Baccano! on its website! It's been so long that I'll need to watch the first two episodes again to refresh my memory, but this is quite exciting. Edit: Or not...Funi's video portal is full of bugs as always. *sigh*

I've learned that fruit crisps are a wonderful thing in the summer~ They can be cooked on the barbecue! It's therefore pretty much the only thing I'm allowed to bake, but luckily they're quite tasty when I get creative.

Case in point: The other day I made a caramel apple crisp with an oat topping. This thing was absolutely heavenly, not to mention easy. I didn't measure anything I put in, but maybe I'll put together an approximation for the recipe.

As for my anime adventures, I finally finished Evangelion. x.X I wish I'd just stopped when I wasn't enjoying it very much, but for some reason, I decided to go right to the end. It ended up like stubbornly slogging through mud...Oh well. It's over now, and I can say I tried. ^^;

I watched all of the anime Romeo x Juliet as well (I think this thing has been through just about every medium by now, huh? XD). It's actually pretty good and worth watching, though it won't be a favourite. Now I'm getting started on Black Cat, which I'm enjoying so far.

Stolen from...a good five or six people. XD;

List the first ten series that come to mind. Your friends will comment with the character from each series that they think you are most like. No favorites (...unless it's legit)!

1)Slayers
2)Tales of the Abyss
3)Simoun
4)Scrapped Princess
5)Princess Tutu
6)Spice and Wolf
7)Dennou Coil (dunno if anyone's even watched much of it yet?)
8)Chrono Crusade
9)Haruhi Suzumiya
10)Farscape

I started stretching towards the end, because I think I'm into a few fandoms that none of my friends are, so I chose I couple semi-random ones. ^^;

I just finished Dennou Coil! The ending was great~ Those last few episodes were so sad though, too--thought I was gonna break down during episode 24 especially--but so awesome. I have another new favourite! *goes to search for icons*

The only downside is...it's not licensed in English, so I can't buy it. I'm not so sure the series ever will get licensed here. However, here's hoping for it to happen one day...

I...feel all squinty-eyed. I think I've spent too much time on the computer today. >< I might have considered going out, but the sole of my foot hurts as if it were bruised, so walking's not too fun at the moment. Whoops, I meant to go to the bank today to pay my tuition--oh well, I'll have to do so in the next couple days. (*sniff* ...Bye-bye, savings...)

One of the reasons I was on the computer all day was watching anime--mostly Dennou Coil, of which I must've gone through at least six or seven episodes today. I've finished episode 17 (of 26) and I'm afraid something's going to happen to Haraken. ._.

However, I think anybody who likes little kids would get a kick out of Kyoko. She's definitely one of the cuter younger-sibling-characters I've ever seen!

Also: If the downright weird dreams I had Saturday night were any indication, I probably shouldn't drink tea in the evenings. Then again, I always sleep restlessly when I have to get up for work, so maybe it was just that.

Having just finished the sixth episode of the second season, I really feel like I need to get this out. Now, I enjoyed season one of Haruhi, but the new series has me greatly annoyed.

Okay, so you're going to have a time loop plot. All well and good--except when it lasts for episode after episode. They've essentially got the exact same things repeating for half of the season and at this rate, the audience has got to be getting as bored as Yuki. The small differences they add into each repetition are nowhere near enough to make this interesting for me except for Koizumi's speedo, especially when the original episode (before we knew it was a time loop) had me bored to tears in the first place.

Episode six ends, and Kyon still hasn't fixed it...meaning it's going to last for at least another episode. *headdesk* I don't even know if I'll keep watching. If this ever gets licensed in English, I certainly won't be buying it.

Mm. Being a cashier is rather troublesome...I see all the candy that's on sale. XD; Because of this, I ended up buying a pile of junk food after work last night--but the big Cadbury chocolate bars were on sale and those are really tasty. There were also quite a few other things. Well, I guess I'd better just eat it slowly and resist buying any more, ha.

Now that I've mostly gotten over my Simoun excitement, I'm back to watching more anime. Full Metal Panic is on hold for the time being while I watch Eureka Seven (almost halfway through now). Fun, so far.

There were some new series that I was keeping up with as they were released, but I wasn't especially smitten with any of them...until now! Spice and Wolf II has started, so I've watched that first episode. Episode one of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 also hooked me. I tried out the two episodes of Canaan on a whim; at first it just looked like it would be pretty, flashy action and fanservice, but I have to say that I haven't been so amused by anything since Slayers. Really! The taxi scene was hilarious. Mino and Maria are a really fun duo so far, so I think I'll be keeping up with this one.

There is one other series I tried called Element Hunters. I think I'll refrain from forming any sort of opinion until I see some "real" subs. I may not know Japanese, but I can still tell that whoever did those subs took some...liberties with the translation. I tried to suspend my disbelief and slog through the random sex talk (seriously, what the hell), but I just gave up when the word "mofos" appeared. XP

I just broke my Minesweeper record again, for like the third time the past couple days. *ponders how to do better than a hundred seconds on expert now*

Okay, so clearly I ought to be spending my time doing something more productive. (Ha...like finishing Phibrizzo. Flat colouring's done, but I don't like the lace, so might change it.) I've been playing around in Photoshop and making some icons while screencapping, which is about it.

Oh, and the university got over its self-conflict. Huzzah! XD
